In twenty-nine years of legal practice, Peter has defended individuals and corporations in a broad range of litigation, including personal injury, product liability, professional errors and omissions, construction, hazardous substances, aviation, civil RICO, unfair competition, trade secrets, officers' and directors' liability, and general casualty litigation. In addition, he has represented health care providers in medical malpractice and general negligence actions. Further, he has represented insurers in coverage related matters and has defended both first and third party coverage and bad faith disputes.
 Peter has also developed a nationally recognized expertise in handling complex litigation arising from mass tort claims. In the early years of his practice, he represented Merck & Co., Inc., one of the nation's largest pharmaceutical companies, in complex litigation proceedings involving the drug DES. He was also actively involved in representing A.H. Robins Co. in its Dalkon Shield IUD litigation throughout California. Over 15 years ago, he began representing parties in asbestos litigation and served for several years as Regional Manager for Owens Corning Fiberglas Corporation, assuming responsibility for handling thousands of asbestos suits against the company across the western United States. Currently, he serves as National Counsel for a latex glove company and a hospital group purchasing organization that have been sued in latex glove litigation pending around the country.
Peter has been "AV" rated by Martindale-Hubbell, the nation's premier attorney rating service, for the past 20 years. He has also been recognized as a Northern California Super Lawyer, a distinction based upon a comprehensive selection process designed to identify those lawyers who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. Notable Engagements

Obtained a non-suit for one of the nation's largest hospital group purchasing organizations in the first latex glove product liability case to be tried in California.

Retained by a former manufacturer of asbestos pipe insulation to serve as the company's Regional Manager with responsibility for overseeing thousands of claims in the western U.S. brought by workers exposed to asbestos-containing products. Kellogg v. Asbestos Corp., 41 Cal. App. 4th 1397, 49 Cal. Rptr. 2d 256 (1996); Dumin v. Owens-Corning Fiberglas Corporation, 28 Cal. App. 4th 650, 33 Cal. Rptr. 2d 702 (1994); Williamson v. Plant Insulation Co., 23 Cal. App. 4th 1406, 28 Cal. Rptr. 2d 751 (1994).
Represented a Fortune 500 Company in a CERCLA action arising from contamination of land by volatile organic chemicals, including development of remediation plans for regulatory approval.

Represented one of the world's largest pharmaceutical manufacturers before the California Supreme Court in writ proceedings which resulted in a landmark decision adopting design defect immunity for prescription drugs. Brown v. Superior Court, 44 Cal. 3d 1049, 245 Cal. Rptr. 412, 751 P.2d 470 (1988).

Successfully defended a former manufacturer of Salk polio vaccine in one of the first market share liability actions filed in California. Sheffield v. Eli Lilly and Company, 144 Cal. App. 3d 583, 192 Cal. Rptr. 870 (1983).

Defended a major medical products manufacturer in over 600 IUD product liability actions throughout the State of California.

Successfully represented a leading manufacturer of cardiac pacemakers in a nationwide civil RICO class action brought in federal court in San Francisco.
